Two great musicians have left the building… Wannes van de Velde here in Belgium/Flanders/Antwerp and Miriam Makeba of South-Africa. Let’s hope their legacy lives on.

Today we’re also remembering the end of the Great War. Worldwide there are still/only 7 (seven) warriors of that war surviving. But even when they’re finally gone, that war should never be forgotten.

A day like this makes you contemplate life…

Caution

*sigh*
It’s there, we’ve reached a half-century. The neighbours snuck the warning sign in this morning. Proceed with caution! :D

Trying to decide what music to have for my Birthday Bash on the 26th (birthday is on the 25th, but we want to make sure we actually make the day ;) ) and I think I’ve decided on the intro: Iron Maiden’s the Number of the Beast. My kids are going so not approve of my choice of music *Mwuahahaha*

Alright, I won’t be 666, but be honest, half a century is a beastly number too, isn’t it?

Run to the hills!

Proof

Yesterday I had a ‘blah’ day and didn’t post a pic – so I got a worried txt this morning from the girls. When they were re-assured I just had a little ‘dip’, missed them something awful and couldn’t sleep as I was missing their nightly noises but would be there on Saturday morning, bright and bushy-tailed, they were quick to ask for the latest ‘Joepie’ (a teenmagazine that already existed when I was young – now that is a long time ago – not that I bought it, I rather went to the library for ‘proper’ books – I know, I’m a geek and proud of it :P ). So here is proof I went and bought it and – oh joy – no Tokio Hotel on the cover this time!

Today it has been hot, hot, hot. I really should cut the grass, but I rather not scorch to a crisp. If the mower doesn’t get through it, I always still have the strimmer to do it next week :P

You know what? I can always squeeze a pic of Oki in from yesterday as #14 – I caught her red-pawed when she was on the table checking out Rooz who came out for a nibble.

Uh-oh

In dutch we have an expression “Beter een goede buur dan een verre vriend” (It’s better to have a good neighbour than a far friend) but it’s only by standing by your friends – even if you only know them virtually – that the world will be a better place.

Wes and Niki in happier days

Only a few nights ago I was chatting with Niki, she told me she needed to go to hospital for check-ups. Now, only by chance, I see at another friend’s blog that things are far more serious. I would like to draw your attention to this, those who know Niki and Wes will surely help, others who don’t know them, please read the post and follow your heart. Just a good thought towards them will help already.

Thank you.

I’ve been messing around for hours here now as I wanted to add a Blogrolling widget.  No problems with the blogrolling, but as WordPress doesn’t accept Javascript, I wanted to add it as an RSS feed widget.  Ha!  It seems they’re not too happy with that either – error after error – or displaying the rss I deleted, re-edited and re-posted

I also added a flagcounter – a bit of a fancy way of seeing where my visitors come from – if there are any, there’s only me and a Canadian been here it seems :(

*makes note to find a way of promoting herself*

Maybe I better let it rest for a while and go do something useful, like clean the kitchen :P

I still need to find something for my daily pic too…

I’ve done this many steps today – yes, my feet are sore and I’ve got 1 blister, even when wearing crocs…

We went on the FNAC Fotomarathon and we walked for hours and hours – 29722 steps – I can hardly believe it – certainly when you know that on a ‘normal’ day I barely get above 2000 steps :D
I bought this stepmeter because I wanted to know if I was turning into a sloth lately – well, if I get my daily steps up a bit more, maybe the equatorial circumference goes down a bit – which was the whole point buying the meter really :D

I was talking about Lolcats a few days ago, remember?  I’m still browsing the site on a daily basis and yesterday late I submitted my first comment – the lolcats were just too irresistible :)

lolcats align right

That simple comment took me more than 15 minutes to edit – Kitteh Lanwich rly iznt eezi to raat u no!

The weird thing though – I caught myself speaking in ‘Kitteh’ to Oki today – she did give me a funny look – she probably speaks Flemish Kitteh instead of Engrish :D

Weird rash? Nope…

Originally uploaded by Reinhilde.

I thought it was just another bout of one of Yasmina’s weird rashes, but after a visit to the doctor, it seems they are ‘pearl warts’, (normally more common with babies, as they like a sticky, humid environment the dr said) and she probably caught them when swimming.
The week after that, after applying a heavy layer of ‘magic cream’ , the dr scooped them out with a tiny icecream spoon. Now poor kid has an armful of red scars, like a bad bout of chicken pox. Luckily the weather isn’t too hot, as I told her she had to keep her arms (yeah well, you can hardly have a shirt with one long and one short sleeve) covered so as the sun wouldn’t touch it, otherwise it will leaves marks. She was really brave – normally she’s a wimp and I’m left with a numb hand ;D – and even kept an eye on proceedings – yes it does looks eew as it rather bleeds profusely, even when they’re all just superficial nicks.

You know why I deserve the tag ‘bad mother’? As my first comment was when the dr started “ooh, rats, I forgot my camera!” :(
:D
